Home’s History
Myrtle Hill, constructed circa 1840, was built by John Huntington, a silversmith from North Carolina. It stands as a testament to the grandeur of the Antebellum era.
The home, along with its sister property Belle Terrace (built in 1838), is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
In 1907, Myrtle Hill was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. William Caffee. Their daughter, Ruby, named the home for the crepe myrtles blooming at the time.
Ruby lived in the house until the age of 95. In 1994, the Lewis family bought and restored the property, transforming it into Myrtle Hill Bed and Breakfast & Gardens.
It remains in the Lewis family to this day.
