The Alleged Fake Burglary

Authorities said deputies responded to the couple’s Finksburg, Maryland, residence on April 7, 2024, after the Osefos claimed to have returned from vacation to discover their home burglarized. They reported that jewelry, luxury goods, designer clothing, and shoes worth more than $200,000 had been stolen. The case initially appeared to be a high-value theft until further investigation revealed inconsistencies.

Detectives Uncover Contradictions

According to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, detectives discovered that the couple had returned approximately $20,000 worth of the items reported stolen to the retailers where they had been purchased. Investigators also obtained images showing one of the Osefos wearing jewelry allegedly stolen after the reported burglary. The findings prompted authorities to secure a search warrant for their home.
