For over two years, NBA YoungBoy—real name Kentrell Gaulden—lived in near isolation inside an 8,800-square-foot mansion perched in Utah’s Olympus Cove neighborhood.

The rapper, who was under house arrest during that time, could not step off the property as he awaited trial on federal gun charges.

In early 2024, the estate that had served as both sanctuary and confinement was officially listed for $5.5 million, marking the end of one of the most unusual living chapters in hip-hop.

Set high above Millcreek, the home was described in its listing as a modern sanctuary designed to “blur the lines between indoor and outdoor living.” But for its occupant, those blurred lines often symbolized something else—freedom just out of reach.

A Luxurious Isolation

Built by renowned architect Lloyd E. Platt, the mansion sits on 1.46 private acres in the gated enclave of Balsam Ridge Park, home to just five residences.

Its floor-to-ceiling glass walls offer sweeping views of Salt Lake City, the Great Salt Lake, and the Oquirrh Mountains. Inside, there’s a show-stopping wet bar, multiple terraces, a heated pool and spa, and a primary suite with skylit dressing rooms and a private balcony.

During his confinement, these architectural luxuries became the backdrop of a deeply personal struggle.

YoungBoy’s attorneys later revealed that being confined to the property had affected his mental health and creativity, prompting court appeals for therapy and limited recording privileges.

By late 2023, a judge granted him partial freedom to leave for treatment—just months before the mansion hit the market.

Faith, Family, and a Fresh Start

Though physically restricted, YoungBoy’s time in Utah seemed to reshape parts of his identity.

He reportedly married during his stay, began reading LDS scriptures, and even opened a recent music video with Mormon verses and glimpses of the very property he was confined to.

Local fans spotted his cars around Olympus Cove, but he never stepped foot beyond its boundaries.

Now, with the home sold, the move represents more than just a financial transaction—it’s a symbolic release.

For a rapper whose lyrics often wrestle with redemption, the sale of his Utah mansion is both an end and a beginning: the closing of confinement and the quiet opening of possibility.
