Democrats in the House released a batch of Jeffrey Epstein-related documents on Friday that mention several high-profile figures, including Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, Steve Bannon, and Prince Andrew. The records, which span calendars, flight manifests, and financial disclosures, were provided by the Justice Department to the House oversight committee. Their release has reignited political tensions as both parties clash over transparency in the Epstein case and the identities of those linked to him.

Prominent Names in Files
The six pages of redacted documents include references to influential conservatives. Epstein’s calendar lists a breakfast with Steve Bannon in February 2019 and a lunch with Peter Thiel in November 2017. It also notes a potential December 2014 trip by Elon Musk to Epstein’s private island. Meanwhile, a flight manifest from 2000 features Prince Andrew, while a financial record that same year shows Epstein paying someone identified as “Andrew” for “Massage, Exercise, Yoga.”

Musk’s Public Statements
Elon Musk has previously used social media to tie Donald Trump to the “Epstein files.” Earlier this year, after criticizing Trump’s tax and spending legislation, Musk accused him of being in the documents. In July, Musk said publicly, “How can people be expected to have faith in Trump if he won’t release the Epstein files?” His past remarks have resurfaced as his own name now appears in the newly released records.

Democrats Stress Accountability
Sara Guerrero, spokesperson for the Democratic minority on the oversight committee, emphasized the significance of the latest release. “It should be clear to every American that Jeffrey Epstein was friends with some of the most powerful and wealthiest men in the world,” she said. “Every new document produced provides new information as we work to bring justice for the survivors and victims.”

Political Tensions Rise
California Democrat Eric Swalwell questioned Musk directly after the files became public, writing on X: “Trump OUTS @elonmusk as being in Epstein Files. Revenge for Elon outing Trump? Elon, what do you know about Trump’s involvement?” His comments added to growing speculation around both Musk’s and Trump’s connections to the case.

Republican Pushback
The Republican-led oversight committee dismissed the release as selective and politically motivated. “This is old news. It’s sad how Democrats are conveniently withholding documents that contain the names of Democratic officials,” the committee wrote on X. “Once again, they are putting politics over victims. That’s all Robert Garcia and Oversight Dems know how to do. We are releasing them all soon.”

Democrats Demand Full Disclosure
Robert Garcia, the ranking Democrat on the committee, rejected Republican criticism and reiterated his party’s stance on transparency. “We don’t care how wealthy or powerful you are – or if you are a Democrat or Republican,” Garcia posted. “If you are in the Epstein documents and files, we are going to expose them and bring justice for the survivors. Release ALL THE FILES NOW!”

Legislative Push for Files
The controversy has fueled momentum in Congress for the full release of Epstein-related documents. A petition backed by Democrats and a small group of Republicans is nearing the 218 signatures required to force a House vote. Democrat Adelita Grijalva’s recent special election victory in Arizona added another supporter. Yet the measure still faces obstacles, as Republican Senate leaders have shown little interest, and Trump has dismissed the issue as a “Democrat hoax.”
